This family-run business is experiencing continued growth and is now looking to expand their in-house manufacturing team with an experienced CNC Machinist (Wood).

The Role: As a 5-Axis CNC Machinist, you will be working within a state-of-the-art workshop in South East London, programming and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision components for bespoke fire doors and timber assemblies.
You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for turning high-quality materials into products that meet exacting safety standards — all while contributing to a company with a strong reputation in the fire protection sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and program 5-axis CNC machines for timber and wood-based components
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and job sheets
- Manufacture bespoke fire door components to tight tolerances and industry standards
- Perform routine maintenance checks and keep machines in good working condition
- Work closely with design, joinery, and installation teams to ensure quality and accuracy
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety and fire door certification requirements
- Proven experience operating 5-axis CNC machines in a woodworking or carpentry environment
- Background in wood machining, bespoke joinery, or carpentry
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and CAD/CAM files
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control
- A proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
