Exciting opportunity to work for an established FM Property company based in London. CBW is currently recruiting for an Electrical Day Shift Engineer to be based at a large and unique tourist attraction in Charing Cross, London.
The successful candidate will be a fully qualified electrical engineer with a proven track record in commercial building maintenance. You will be part of the on-site maintenance team, responsible for carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across this static site.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer looking to work within a unique commercial environment, with further training, overtime and internal progression available.
Package & Hours of Work
- Salary up to £45,000 per annum
- 4 on 4 off shift pattern
- 08:00 – 20:00
- 09:00 – 21:00 when your shift falls on a Friday or Saturday

- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance across the site.
- Undertake all allocated maintenance tasks in a timely, professional and safe manner.
- Proactively identify electrical faults and building services issues and take appropriate action to resolve them.
- Carry out electrical fault-finding and diagnostics across the site.
- Complete emergency lighting testing and remedial works.
- Carry out lighting maintenance, including lamp, ballast and LED lighting changes.
- Work on power distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.
- Complete minor electrical installation works, including new sockets, lighting and circuits.
- Carry out electrical inspections and report any defects or issues identified.
- Assist with electrical testing and ensure any remedial works are completed as required.
- Escort and supervise specialist subcontractors when required.
- Liaise with the site management team regarding maintenance issues and service-affecting faults.
- Maintain good communication with client representatives and building users.
- Ensure all health & safety issues are reported and escalated appropriately.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with site procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance tasks and outstanding works.
- Remain flexible with regard to site attendance and tasks undertaken within your level of competency.
- Support the wider maintenance team to ensure the building remains operational and well maintained at all times.
The successful candidate should have hands-on experience with a range of commercial electrical systems, including:
- Electrical PPM and reactive maintenance
- Electrical fault-finding
- Lighting systems, including LED, Simmtronic and Philips lighting
- Emergency lighting
- Power distribution
- Distribution boards and electrical panels
- Small electrical works and installations
- New sockets, lights and circuits
- Transformers
- Star-delta starters
- Minor electrical installations
- General commercial electrical systems
- Level 2 & 3 Electrical qualification – C&G, NVQ or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Previous experience working within a large commercial building or similar environment.
- Proven track record in commercial electrical maintenance.
- Strong electrical fault-finding ability.
- Hands-on experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Able to provide copies of relevant trade certificates – Essential.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team.
- Flexible approach to working within a busy and unique environment.
- Must be able to reliably commute to Charing Cross, London for the required shift pattern.
