Exciting opportunity to join an established FM service provider based at a commercial site in Guildford, Surrey. CBW Staffing Solutions is currently recruiting for a Fabric Engineer to work across a busy commercial building, carrying out both planned preventative and reactive maintenance across general building fabric systems.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of general fabric maintenance and experience carrying out duties such as carpentry, painting & decorating, and general handyman work within a commercial environment. Hours of Work:
Rotating Shift Pattern (Monday to Friday)
07:00 am – 16:00 pm
09:00 am – 18:00 pm
11:00 am – 19:00 pm
Thursday late shopping: 11:00 am – 20:00 pm (1 in 3 when working weekends)
1 in 3 weekends required:
Saturday: 08:00 am – 18:00 pm
Sunday: 11:00 am – 17:00 pm
Days in lieu provided for weekend work.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric maintenance across the commercial site
- Complete general fabric repairs including basic carpentry, painting & decorating, and minor handyman works
- Carry out furniture repairs, furniture moves, and general porterage duties
- Install and repair blinds, locks, hinges, shelving, cabinets, desks, and office furniture
- Hang pictures, shelves, and complete minor installation works when required
- Carry out basic lighting maintenance and lamp changes
- Assist the wider engineering team with site compliance tasks including fire alarm testing, tap temperature checks, water flushing, and general PPMs
- Maintain and update site logbooks and compliance paperwork accurately
- Escort and supervise specialist subcontractors on site
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health & safety procedures
- Maintain a professional and client-facing approach at all times
Package:

Requirements:
- Strong understanding of commercial building fabric maintenance
- Experience carrying out carpentry, painting & decorating, and general handyman duties
- Good communication and client-facing skills
- Health & Safety awareness within a commercial environment
- Basic PC literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, smartphones, and internet use
- Ability to manage workload effectively and work to tight deadlines
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently or within a team
