Exciting opportunity to work in house for a critical data centre situated in London. CBW are currently recruiting for a Junior Data Centre Technician to be based within A data centre located in Farringdon for a temporary to permanent contract. We are looking for a candidate with relevant experience who is also open to more training and development.  


Key duties & Responsibilities
    • Build strong customer relationships by managing communications, projects, and service requests, providing timely updates and a consistently high level of service.
    • Diagnose and resolve a wide range of technical issues involving network connectivity, server hardware, operating systems, software applications, and data centre infrastructure.
    • Take ownership of complex technical issues and act as an escalation point, working collaboratively with internal teams to deliver effective and timely resolutions.
    • Support internal IT operations, including hardware deployments, Microsoft 365 administration, user support, and general helpdesk activities.
    • Install and manage customer and network provider cross-connects and cabling infrastructure, ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with data centre standards.
    • Maintain clear and accurate records of incidents, troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and operational procedures within ticketing systems and knowledge bases.
    • Carry out routine data centre activities, including equipment installations, upgrades, cabling, rack management, and hardware replacements.
    • Conduct infrastructure audits and maintain accurate inventory records covering equipment, racks, cabling, and power distribution units (PDUs).
    • Identify recurring support trends and recommend improvements to processes, efficiency, and the overall customer experience.
    • Ensure all activities comply with company security policies, operational procedures, and relevant industry best practices.
    • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and developments across data centre operations and technical support.
    • Work collaboratively as part of the wider team, sharing knowledge and contributing to a positive, customer-focused working environment.
 

Hours of work / contract details

  • Days and Nights shift pattern
  • 7:00am - 19:00pm / 19:00pm - 7:00am
  • 4 on 4 off
  • Temp to permanent position
  • Hourly rates offered from £18-20p/h depending on experience and qualifications
  • Salary up to £30k + depending on experience and qualifications
   
Requirements ( desirable )
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA or equivalent)
  • Other relevant infrastructure or networking certifications
