are currently recruiting for a Shift Maintenance Electrician
to join a globally recognised facilities management company, operating within a mission-critical data centre environment
in Sunderland. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician to work within a high-security, technical setting, supporting the maintenance and reliability of essential building and electrical systems.
Package:
- Salary: £36,090 per annum + £4,000 shift allowance
- 4-on / 4-off shift pattern – days and nights (average of 40 hours per week)
- Work-life balance: Only working half the year due to shift structure

- Pathways to High Voltage (HV) or Low Voltage (LV) Authorised Person certification
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a wide range of electrical systems
- Regularly test and maintain emergency generators to ensure full operational readiness
- Ensure fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and CCTV remain compliant and fully functional
- Support the maintenance of critical air handling and cooling systems
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues and contractors to deliver a safe and efficient maintenance service
- Adhere to health & safety policies and contribute to a high-performance team culture
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Additional electrical or building services certifications are advantageous
- Proven background in electrical maintenance within the facilities management or building services sector
- Prior experience in a critical environment (e.g., data centres, healthcare, telecoms) is desirable
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics
- Comfortable working a rotating day/night shift pattern
- Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential
